Father’s Day and the 4th

Well, July is here already and I can’t believe what a lazy blogger I’ve been.  I completely missed the month of June.  With the 2 boys and being back at work, it seems time just zooms by.  Here’s what is going on with us the good and the bad.

Unfortunately, Big Papa (Ryan’s grandfather) past away the end of June.  He lived a long life of 90 years, but still it was unexpected.  He was so “with it” right up to the end.  An excellent father, grandfather and great grandfather.  To me he was special, he always treated me as if I was his own, not as an in law.  On all of our birthdays he would give us each a dollar for every year.  He reported it would stop once we turned 30.  I turned 30 and the bills kept coming.  He wasn’t a complainer even when he was suffering.  A generous man, a continuous Mr. Fix it and a story teller, he will be missed.

On a lighter note, here’s what’s going on with Nathan.  Next week Nathan turns 3!  I can’t believe my first born baby is now a “pre-schooler” or “big boy” as he says.  I’m so proud of him.  He has mastered all his letters and most numbers up to 20.  He is quite the little counter.  Where ever we go he starts counting everything in site.  Potty trained completely.  He is such a social butterfly, always eager to befriend strangers and wanting to know everyones names.  His language skills are that of probably a 5 year old.  He amazes me with the way his mind works at such a young age.  OK, I’ll stop bragging.  This week Nathan started his first organized sport, T-Ball.  His friend AJ is taking it too.  The 2 of them have so much fun together.  It was so great to see him hit the ball, run the bases, catch and throw.

Chase is growing!  5 months old this past week.  A month ago for his 4 month appointment he was over 15lbs and almost 26 inches (75th percentile).  He has the most contagious smile and laugh.  He recently started rolling over and soon he’ll be sitting up.  Playing with baby toys is so much fun for him now.  Although he is not yet eating solids we set up his high chair so he can be a part of family meal times.  Next week Aunti Anj and Nonna come to visit and I know they can’t wait to see both boys, but they will be astounded by how much Chase has changed since they saw him a few months ago.

Happy belated Father’s day to all the Father’s out there.  Especially Happy father’s day to my husband Ryan.  I’m so proud of the father you’ve become.  I love watching you with our boys.  Nathan looks up to you so much and Chase will soon too.  Ryan is soon off to Canada for his college friend’s wedding  (also named Ryan).  We wish we all could go, but I got exahusted just thinking about traveling with 2 young one’s.  We’ll be doing it soon when we go back east for our Boston/NY/DC grand tour for Sheri’s wedding and then in October the other direction for Hawaii.  I’m thankfully fitting back into most of my pre-preggo clothes.  Let’s keep our finger’s crossed I’ll fit into the bridesmaid dress in September.

Here are some pictures, videos of the boys, and a recipe

Oh sorry, no videos (we have a very low budget blog).  We have a lot to say, but it seems like I’m too busy to have time to get to the blog.  Here are some pictures for those of you who don’t get to see the boys as often as you would like to.

Salsa recipe:  via Rick from my work

O.K., Here’s the famous recipe: Start with 2 large bowls. Chop up 1 bushel of green onions, chop up ½  white onion put contents in 1st bowl.  Bowl #2 chop up ¾ quarters of a bushel of cilantro, put 2 large cans of tomato sauce into bowl with cilantro. Now  boil 6 large Jalepeno’s and 6 Yellow chiles until soft. When chiles are cooked cut them in half and remove all the seeds from 3 jalapeno’s and 3 Yellow chiles, now, chop up all the chiles and put into bowl with tomato sauce. Now blend the bowl with sauce and chiles. After blending add bowl with onions to blended sauce and stir in plenty of garlic salt.

Please feel free to add some of your favorite recipes too, I love to cook.

Happy Easter!

scannedimage-3

Today Chase had his 2 month old doctor appointment and he weighed almost 12 lbs!  He’s in the 75th percentile for height and weight.  The doctor said he was doing great and very healthy.  Unfortunately he had to have some shots, he cried a little bit, but not too bad.  He will now finally stay asleep one stretch at night for 4-5 hours.

Nathan is so excited for the easter bunny to come.  This past weekend he went on an easter egg hunt and to Disney on Ice with our neighbors Troy & Max.  Nathan loved Disney on Ice, there were a couple of scarry parts for the little one though.  His favorite parts were pirates of the carribean and buzz light year.

We hope you all have a very happy easter!
